What are your Cup Match plans?

Temiko Wilson, 25, Pembroke

What are your plans for Cup Match? The Royal Gazette took to the streets of Hamilton to find what members of the public are planning for Cup Match.Antwone Simons, 47, of Pembroke, said he wants to see St George’s win the cup.“I’m going to rent a room and just chill out and enjoy the game. I’ll go to the game Thursday and catch the tail end of it,” he said. “I’ve been for St George’s since I had my little Mobylette. Somerset took care of we guys last year real good, know what I mean?”Devonshire resident and Somerset fan Roddy, 34, said: “My Cup Match plans involve seeing Shabba Ranks, Beachfest, the game, soca vs reggae, one day of relaxing on Saturday and Non-Mariners.“I’m actually performing at Snorkel Park, so hopefully we get a decent level of support. It’ll be tricky but we’ll hit the ground running next year.”Temiko Wilson, 25, of Pembroke hasn’t decided how to spend his weekend.“I might just stay home and watch Cup Match on TV or I might just go St George’s and enjoy. I was playing for St George’s but I didn’t make the team though.”Paget resident Mike, 30, said: “I’m going to get drunk on a boat for probably two days, and half a day in my bed asleep and the rest of it drinking and eating food.“I’m not that interested in the game, Somerset’s going to win though.”Quinton Joell, 75, of Smith’s, had his weekend planned out for years.“We’re going to be camping from tonight right up to Sunday at Long Bay. The whole family has been camping there for 25 years.”When asked what team he supported, he said with a laugh: “Somerset! We’re gonna give St George’s a good licking again.”Omar Ray, 31, of Pembroke said he won’t be able to see his team play this year.“I’m for St George’s, but actually I’m going abroad this year.”Pembroke resident, Dae Smith, plans on enjoying the weekend with friends.“Don’t matter, where ever the party is at. I’ll probably hit up Horseshoe Bay.“I heard they were supposed to have Beachfest up Snorkel Park this year, but Horseshoe is my usual spot. I’m going to have a BBQ with friends and drink.”Jennie Doidge, 19, of Pembroke said: “Me and a bunch of friends rented a boat, so on Thursday we’re going to the raft up, where ever it is.“Friday, we don’t have any plans, maybe Horseshoe, not sure. Then I go away.”Cheryl, of Pembroke said: “I’m going to the game for the first time in ten years. I’m hoping it’s going to be a win this year because St George’s has got to get it back, go St George’s!”Paget resident Bryden Pedro, 20, said: “I’m heading to Ottawa, Canada. I’m usually here, and usually going to Non-Mariners and Beachfest.“Other then that, I’m just chilling with friends. There’s not too much to do, but if it’s not a party, I don’t go to it. ”
