The ceremony, which has taken place annually since 1988, commemorates six St George’s pilots who died in 1927 when their pilot boat capsized in rough waters.Descendants of the men will go out with members of the Guild of the Holy Compassion on Saturday afternoon to take part in the tradition of laying wreaths in the ocean in memory of the pilots. The Guild of the Holy Compassion is an organisation formed more than 90 years ago dedicated to the care of merchant seamen’s graves in Bermuda.
