Syringes subject to recent recall not sold in Bermuda - Govt
Syringes recalled by a US healthcare products company were not imported into Bermuda, the Health Ministry advised yesterday. An initial recall by Covidien stated that certain lots of Monoject prefill flush syringes were sold in Bermuda, but inquiries with local healthcare facilities have shown they were not.“Local medical supply companies and the Bermuda Hospitals Board pharmacy have been consulted and it has been determined that the syringes affected by this recall are not known to have been imported into Bermuda,” a Ministry spokesperson said.“The vast majority of the affected products are prescription products used only in healthcare facilities by medical personnel, and would not have been sold directly to consumers.”The syringes were initially recalled because it was believed some of them may not have been properly sterilised prior to distribution.
