Pregnant woman and male accomplice burgle cafe
A pregnant woman today admitted burgling the Buzz Cafe on Bakery Lane in Hamilton and stealing $750 cash, along with a male accomplice.Crystl Smith, 31, of Southampton, and Garrett Burroughs, 47, of Pembroke, pleaded guilty at Magistrates’ Court to unlawfully entering the cafe in the early hours of September 7 and stealing a Bank of Butterfield money pouch containing the company’s “float money” for the day.Prosecutor Susan Mulligan told the court the pair were arrested after CCTV footage was reviewed by management and one of the waitresses recognised mother-of-four Smith, who has another child on the way.Burroughs was remanded in custody pending a social inquiry report, while Smith was bailed in the amount of $1,000.The defendants will be sentenced on November 14.
