SPCA programme tackles Island’s overpopulation of cats
The SPCA has launched a “long overdue” microchipping and spaying/neutering programme for cats.
The ‘CatSnip Programme’ — the first of its kind in Bermuda — involves microchipping all cats so they and their owners can be identified.
The programme is a proactive, inexpensive approach to tackling the problem of cat overpopulation in Bermuda, according to the SPCA.
Owners can now take their pets to be microchipped at either Ettrick Animal Hospital or Endsmeet Animal Hospital. The process costs $20.
The programme has been in place for dogs for many years and is “long overdue for cats in Bermuda”, an SPCA spokesperson said.
Added SPCA president Allison Williams: “One of the most responsible things you can do for your cat is to have him or her microchipped and the SPCA is very pleased to be able to offer this at a minimal cost.”
