Toy drive aims to spread festive joy to 950 children

The Salvation Army is reaching out to the public to help give needy children lasting holiday memories this year by taking part in their annual toy drive.

Major Shawn Critch said the programme expects to help around 950 children under the age of 13 this year.

“Our goal is to provide up to three new toys to each child that is registered with the annual assistance programme,” he said. “This represents one of the Island’s largest initiatives of its kind, and creates a need for approximately 2,850 toys between November 6 and December 16.”

New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at several locations, including HSBC on Front Street, the Bank of Butterfield’s Rosebank and Reid Street branches and the Bermuda Commercial Bank on Par-la-Ville Road.

Information about the annual Anonymous Santa programme will be published in The Royal Gazette later this month.
