Firefighters have praised residents of a Fentons Drive, Pembroke home for equipping their kitchen with fire extinguishers that allowed for the quick tackling of a blaze.

The fire on a kitchen stove was extinguished by a concerned neighbour as firefighters arrived shortly before noon last Thursday.

“It is refreshing to know that families are taking the necessary precaution,” fire service spokesman Leonard Davis said.
