Bermudian accountant Antoinette Bolden has been found guilty of professional misconduct by the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario.

The association’s disciplinary committee found Mrs Bolden guilty at a September 24 hearing, according to a notice in today’s edition of The Royal Gazette.

It states: “The Discipline Committee ordered notification to the public of Ms Francis Bolden’s conviction by the Supreme Court of Bermuda of one count of issuing or supplying false documents or information contrary to the Investment Business Act 2003 (Bermuda).

“Ms Francis Bolden is a former member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario.”

Mrs Bolden and her husband David, were convicted in 2011 of misleading the Bermuda Monetary Authority over the financial position of their company, the Emerald Financial Group.

The Boldens made what the jury found to be false statements between September 28 and October 28, 2008, in answer to BMA inquiries about Emerald’s liquidity and capitalisation.

However the jury cleared the couple of 18 theft and money laundering charges relating to allegations they stole from Emerald Capital International, an exempt company.
