Boat parade traffic restrictions

Hamilton Harbour will be ablaze with colour when the annual Christmas boat parade gets underway this evening.

Around 60 vessels have registered to part in the floating festive light show, including the 112-ft Spirit of Bermuda and a number of large motor yachts and sailboats.

The harbour will be closed to both commercial and private boat traffic from 5.30pm, with the parade starting at 6.30pm. There will also be a ‘no anchor zone’ near the parade route. The evening will culminate with a fireworks display taking place from White’s Island at around 8.15pm.

Police have advised that there will be a number of traffic restrictions in place between 6pm and 9pm.

One Way Streets

Harbour Road, between Manse Road and Stowe Hill travelling in an easterly direction.

The Lane, between Stowe Hill and North Roundabout in an easterly direction.

Parking

Parking will be permitted on the north side of Harbour Road between Manse Road and Lovers Lane.

No Parking

Parking will not be permitted on Manse Road (either side).

Parking will not be permitted on Chapel Road (either side).

Parking will not be permitted on Cavendish Road (either side).

A police spokesman warned that officers will be monitoring the designated areas “and any vehicle found to be blocking the roadway or flow of traffic, parked illegally or parked in a dangerous manner may be ticketed or removed”.
