Four arrested following College ‘altercation’
Four teenagers were arrested in connection with a “dispute” at the Bermuda College campus in Paget today.
Two 17-year-old Sandys parish men and two 18-year-old Warwick men remain in police custody pending further inquiries into the incident.
Police were on hand at the campus when the incident occurred around noon, providing extra security while students sat their GED exams, according to a statement.
“The altercation took place just outside the Student Hall where students were taking a break after completing the first module,” the statement read.
“There were approximately 70 students sitting the exam with six invigilators present. The GED exams will continue on Wednesday with increased security on campus.
“Bermuda College students were elsewhere on campus sitting their own final exams and were not in danger or involved. The College is grateful for the presence and quick action of the police and College security officers.”
A police spokesman said that, while details remained unclear, “it appears that the dispute occurred between persons attending that location for GED examinations”.
The spokesman added that there was nothing to suggest the dispute was gang related, “however, that possibility cannot be ruled out”.
Any witnesses are encouraged to contact the police on 295-0011.
