Paget home damaged by fire
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were forced into a home on Bostock Hill in Paget late on Tuesday night
as they battled to put out a blaze.
But nobody was in the two-bedroom house, which is undergoing renovations, according to Fire Service spokesman Lt Leonard Davis.
It was the culmination of a busy day for the Fire Service who had to deal with two others fires — one in St. David’s and one in Smith’s.
A brush fire on a large plot of land near Southside Road, St David’s, was extinguished after about 45 minutes — their job made more difficult because of “high winds, thick brush and uneven terrain.”
The blaze was apparently caused when the brush made contact with a hot lawnmower exhaust pipe, according to a spokesman.
A minor fire on Cameron Close in Smith’s involved a washer and dryer. It was extinguished before firefighters arrived.
