A 32-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a police officer and having a bladed article.

Eugene Gibbons, of Sandys, denied having a three inch fixed-blade knife, an eight inch flathead screwdriver, a five-and-a-half inch Phillips head screwdriver, and spitting in a police officer’s face on Front Street yesterday.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo released Mr Gibbons on $2,000 bail and adjourned the trial until April 10.
