Pitbull who bit man is still on the loose
A black pit bull terrier is still on the loose after biting a man yesterday in what police say was an “unprovoked attack”.
The dog attacked the 41-year-old man outside a home on Mission Lane, Pembroke, and then ran off.
A Bermuda Police Service spokesman said the incident happened at about 1.30pm and prompted residents to come to the aid of the man and pull the dog off him.
“The dog then fled the area,” he said. “The man was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. The dog warden has been informed and inquiries into the matter are under way.”
In a separate incident yesterday, a police officer was bitten by a pit bull while executing a search warrant at a Warwick home.
The officer attended King Edward VII Memorial for a puncture wound on his left thigh after the attack on Coral Hill Lane.
The police spokesman said: “The dog was found to be illegal and seized by the dog warden. An investigation into this matter is now ongoing.”
