Donations flood in to SJA
St John Ambulance has received more than $50,000 in contributions and donations since the charity first appealed to the public for financial assistance earlier this month.
With a debt totalling around $300,000, the donations will go a long way in assuaging the charity’s fiscal woes, the extent of which has left the service unable to provide medical support at public events unless it is guaranteed a donation.
Commissioner Stephen Gunn said the charity has received “incredible feedback from the community” since The Royal Gazette first reported the story.
“There are other companies in the community who have already notified us that they would like to contribute and we are anxiously awaiting their assistance,” said Mr Gunn, adding that a new ambulance should be delivered “early in the New Year”.
