Statistician to give lecture on gambling

The promises and pitfalls of gambling will come up for discussion as statistician Cordell Riley delivers a lecture on the proposed introduction of casinos to the Island.
Mr Riley has expressed scepticism on the benefits of gaming in an article carried by the International Journal for Responsible Tourism.
Entitled ‘Trouble in Paradise — Is Gaming the Way Forward?’, the article questions whether the social costs of gaming would be worth it — although Mr Riley writes that gambling “could be in Bermuda sooner rather than later”.
His lecture will be given at 6pm on Thursday at the Leopards Club.
