Inside Palm Grove Gardens

Palm Grove Gardens is privately owned by the Gibbons family, Palm Grove is a wonderfully manicured garden in Devonshire on South Shore Road. The owner and former Premier of Bermuda, Sir David Gibbons opens the 18-acre garden to the public from Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm. It stretches from the main road to the sea. As the name suggests, there is an array of palms and palmettos including Cuban Royal palms and Canary Island palms. The garden also has Sago palm and coconut trees and limestone huts, with an aviary with parrots. The garden also features a moongate in the garden which local lore says are supposed to bring good luck for the newlywed couples who pass through them. There is also a wishing well. The main highlight of the garden is a lily pond with in the shape of the Bermuda archipelago.
