Rider hurt in utility pole collision
A Sandys man was hospitalised after his motorcycle collided with a utility pole in Southampton.
According to a police spokesman, first responders attended the scene of the collision on South Road, near the junction with Lighthouse Road, at around 3.45am on Saturday.
“It appears that a motorcycle was being ridden along South Road when it collided with a utility pole,” the spokesman said. “The injured rider, a 30-year-old Sandys parish man, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.
“At last check he was in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. Apparently the motorcycle was extensively damaged.”
The spokesman added that police are still making inquiries into the crash, urging witnesses or anyone with information to contact PC Chaquita Simmons at the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.
