Embassy visit
The Island’s Filipino community will have a chance to discuss matters of interest next month with a visiting team from the Philippine Embassy in Washington, DC.
Delegates also plan to speak with local officials, including Home Affairs Minister Michael Fahy.
The group, led by Consul Arlene Magno and Labour Attaché Luz Padilla, is travelling to Bermuda on a consular and labour outreach mission from February 21 to 23.
According to the Association of Filipinos in Bermuda, the embassy team has invited Senator Fahy to meet with them at a dinner on February 21.
Also invited were Home Affairs Permanent Secretary Randolph Rochester, Chief Immigration Officer Danette Ming and Deputy Governor Ginny Ferson.
The group will conduct passport renewals on February 22, from 8am to 5pm, at the Mariner’s Club in Hamilton.
Also planned are reports of births and marriages, and oaths of dual citizenship.
Filipinos holding the discontinued maroon passports and green passports will not be able to get extensions beyond October of 2015, the Consul has advised. The deadline for application forms is February 8.
Those wishing to take advantage of the embassy service should contact the Association at 504-9186, 591-5225 or 336-3218.
