Man denies camera-phone offence
A Southampton man has been accused of using a camera-phone to take pictures up a 14-year-old girl’s skirt.
And Magistrates Court heard today how he allegedly swallowed his phone’s sim card after he had been tackled by a store manager.
The 42-year-old man denied intruding on the privacy of a female at Lindo’s supermarket on February 5.
He was seen by management acting suspiciously around female customers, carrying a bag with a cameraphone hidden inside, prosecutor Susan Mulligan told the court.
Ms Mulligan said the manager followed the man outside of the store but he ran when questioned about his actions. After being tackled he then swallowed his phone’s sim card.
Other potential victims are still being identified, said Ms Mulligan.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded the man into custody.
He will appear for trial on May 28.
