Donations sought for pre-school book drive
A campaign to provide books for every pre-schooler on the Island has been launched by radio host Nikita Robinson.
Ms Robinson hopes to collect more than 1,500 books before World Book Day, which is celebrated next Thursday, March 6.
The campaign is being run in conjunction with bookstore Brown & Company, which is offering a ten percent discount on books that will be donated to the campaign.
Ms Robinson, who hosts ‘The Ladies Room’ radio programme on Hott107.5FM, said: “Through the generosity of our listeners and sponsors including Brown & Company, the Hott 107.5FM family is able to promote literacy and a love of the written word to the Island’s most precious resource — our children.”
She said that listeners are invited to sponsor a pre-school or nursery of their choice by purchasing one book for each child. Brown & Company. Additionally, volunteers are sought to read to pre-schoolers on World Book Day.
“We still have a few schools in need of books and readers,” Ms Robinson said.
“Anyone interested in helping us reach our goal can call 297-1076 or e-mail ladiesroom@hott1075.bm to adopt a school, stop by or call Brown & Company at 279-5443 to purchase books for pre-schoolers aged two to five years, or volunteer to read on March 6, World Book Day.”
