A Sandys woman was taken to hospital this morning after being struck by a motorcycle in Southampton.

According to a police spokesman, at around 6.35am emergency services attended the reported collision on Middle Road, near the junction with Industrial Park Road.

“Initial information suggested that a car and a motorcycle were involved, however, it now appears that a female passenger exited a bus that stopped in the area and attempted to cross the road when she was struck by a motorcycle,” the spokesman said.

“The pedestrian, a 48-year-old Sandys parish woman, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of head and leg injuries.”

No one else was injured in the crash, but the collision reportedly caused significant delays for morning commuters.
