A Pembroke man has been charged with assaulting the mother of his six-year-old child.

Alden Ray, 50, pleaded not guilty in Magistrates’ Court this morning to unlawfully assaulting Ronette Burchall and doing her bodily harm.

Prosecutor Nicole Smith said Mr Ray and Ms Burchall have a six-year-old son but are no longer living together.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released Mr Ray on $3,000 bail with one surety, ordering Mr Ray to not make contact with Ms Burchall.

Mr Ray will be tried on June 9.
