St George’s man charged with sexual assault
A St George’s man has been charged with seven separate counts of sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl.
The man, who is in his 60s, was not required to enter a plea when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning as the charges are indictable.
He faces four charges of touching the girl for a sexual purpose between September, 2007 and June, 2009.
The alleged victim was just seven when the first offence was committed, prosecutor Nicole Smith told the court.
Two more offences are alleged to have occurred between September 2010 and June 2011, and another between July 1 and August 30 in 2012.
Ms Smith said the man used his position of trust with the girl to sexually exploit her.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released the man on $10,000 bail with one surety.
He will reappear for mention on April 24.
