Temporary closure of hospital access corridor

A section of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital is set to temporarily close this month as construction continues on the new Acute Care Wing.

According to a Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB) spokeswoman, a portion of the ground floor corridor between the Continuing Care Unit (CCU) and the Main Lobby will be closed for around four weeks.

“The BHB advise the public to use the main KEMH entrance for all hospital services to avoid inconvenience,” she said. “Those who have to access the hospital from the CCU Point Finger Road entrance will be directed to take the CCU elevator to the first floor, walk along the corridor and use the main elevator bank or stairwell to access all hospital services.

“Currently there is a partial closure on the first floor of the hospital. The ground floor will not close until the first floor has been reopened. It is expected that the ground floor will close week commencing April 21 following the Easter weekend.”
