Thief admits 14 offences

A prolific thief will be sentenced in Supreme Court after pleading guilty to a string of 14 burglaries, thefts and forgeries.

Joeshon Russell, 39, of no fixed abode, admitted to four counts of burglary, stealing $1,925 worth of jewellery and cashing in more than $2,000 in stolen cheques.

He also admitted stealing a Yamaha scooter.

The offences occurred between March, 2013 and March 2014, during which time Russell admitted to breaking into four houses in Pembroke, Devonshire and St George’s, prosecutor Carrington Mahoney told Magistrates’ Court.

In October, 2013, Russell entered a Pembroke Park Lane residence and stole a pair of gold earrings and a gold charm bracelet, worth $1,925, belonging to Joy Warren.

He also admitted to stealing four cheques from the homes he entered, forging the cheques and cashing them at HSBC and Butterfield Banks for a total $2,470.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded Russell into custody to await sentencing in Supreme Court on May 1.
