Boy hit on pedestrian crossing

An eight-year-old boy escaped serious injury after he was hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing.
The schoolboy, who has not been named, was using the crossing at Crow Lane, near its junction with Corkscrew Hill, when the accident happened around 4.15pm on Monday.
The driver of the car stopped to help and the youngster was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be serious.
Police have appealed for witnesses.
