A memorial service to honour the life of former Premier Sir David Gibbons is set to be held on Thursday.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity in Hamilton, starting at 3pm, led by Bishop Nick Dill and including tributes from Sir David’s sons James and David, along with former Premier Sir John Swan.

In light of the ceremony several businesses will be closing at 2pm, including Bermuda Motors, Burrows Lightbourn, Capital G Bank Ltd, Gibbons Company, the Bermuda Island Shop, the Perfume Shop in Dockyard and Twenty5Reid.

Sir David, who served as Premier between 1977 and 1982, died on March 30 following a brief illness.
