A prisoner was today charged with possessing cannabis within the Westgate walls.

Garrett Burrows, 47, denied possessing the drug in the prison on October 28. The charges come with additional weight as the prison is classified as an increased penalty zone.

Acting Magistrate Juan Wolffe set trial for July 15, but not before exchanging words with Burrows, who appeared agitated and spoke loudly and abruptly when asked for a plea.

“I’m not your friend. Show this court some respect,” Mr Wolffe told Burrows, who smiled and shook his head with exasperation.
