OBA to elect deputy chairmen tomorrow
The One Bermuda Alliance will elect two new deputy chairmen at a special general meeting tomorrow.
Running on joint tickets for the positions are Senator Lynne Woolridge and Sylvia Hayward-Harris as one team and MP Susan Jackson and Karen Magnum as the other.
All current party members are eligible to vote and can cast their ballot at the party’s headquarters on Reid Street between 10am and 6pm.
The results of the election are expected to be announced soon after polling closes.
Sen Woolridge is the head of international life for the Argus Group and a director of the Insurance Association of the Caribbean.
Ms Hayward-Harris is the founder of the Women’s Resource Centre, an ordained pastor and expert in the field of addictions. She has worked at numerous organisations on the Island, including Focus, Fairhaven and Camp Spirit.
Ms Jackson is the OBA MP for Pembroke South West and the daughter of late politicians Albert and Louise Jackson. Her great grandfather was the second black Bermudian elected to the House of Assembly, in 1887.
Ms Magnum is the OBA’s executive secretary and runs Magnum Power Force Gym and Diet Center on Front Street with her husband.
The party’s former deputy chairmen were Michael Branco and Jeanne Atherden, who recently announced they were stepping down.
An advance poll was held last week for those travelling and unable to vote tomorrow.
