Premier refutes money request allegation

Premier Craig Cannonier has denied allegations that he requested money from a US developer.

He was referring to a story that appeared online at the Think Media website on Wednesday.

“I flatly refute the allegation that I requested any monies from US developer Nathan Landow,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Mr Cannonier noted that the article titled ‘Selling Bermuda’, had itself confirmed that nothing had been sold.

“Although US developer Nathan Landow did express an interest in developing the St George’s hotel property, his company did not submit a proposal in time,” Mr Cannonier said.

The website article is an investigation into a controversy that erupted in early 2013 when the Premier, Attorney General Mark Pettingill and Tourism Minister Shawn Crockwell flew to Washington DC on a private plane owned by Mr Landow, who was interested in developing a resort property in Bermuda.
