Public urged to join missing man search
Police are doubling down on their efforts to find missing Canadian tourist William Grange, calling on all Bermudians to join forces tomorrow in a concerted Island-wide search for the missing 67-year-old.
Seven days have passed since the retired lawyer, suffering from short-term memory loss, disappeared from the Cambridge Beaches resort in Sandys where he and his wife were staying during a five-day Bermuda vacation.
Police acting chief inspector Mark Clarke today asked everyone — from community groups, to churches, even the boy and girl scouts — to come together and assist in “this high-priority search.”
Mr Clarke encouraged anyone “with two legs” to meet at 8am tomorrow at either the St George’s, Somerset, or Hamilton Police stations.
“Interested community groups are asked to call 247-1776 or e-mail pmr@bps.bm today to indicate the approximate size of their group and which section of the Island — west, central or east — they can assist with searching,” said Mr Clarke.
Mr Clarke went on to request that anyone with security cameras around their property review the footage taken over the past week in case Mr Grange might have wandered through.
Mr Grange’s family have expressed concern for his safety, claiming that he could be “scared and disorientated”.
He also needs to take medication for his condition.
“Any person who believes that they have footage showing 67 year-old William (Bill) Grange should immediately call 295-0011, 717-0282 or e-mail mclarke@bps.bm,” said Mr Clarke.
He went on to thank the public for their vigilance in calling the police’s attention to possible sightings of Mr Grange and for volunteering in previous search efforts.
Mr Clarke confirmed that one man who resembled Mr Grange had been approached by police eight separate times in the week since he went missing.
