Firefighters climb promotion ladder
Two firefighters have been promoted to the rank of Sergeant after serving almost two decades with the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service.
Russann Francis, and Raymond Masters, both joined the BFRS 18 years ago as firefighters, and Emergency Medical Technicians.
Prior to her promotion, Sergeant Francis held the position of Acting Sergeant in both the Operations, and Training, Divisions. In her new role she will be supervising an operational duty crew while also undertaking a Bachelor of Fire Science Degree.
She is certified as a National Fire Protection Association Fire Officer Level 1, and a National Fire Protection Association Fire Instructor Level 1. In addition, Sergeant Francis is also an Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate, and the Chief Negotiator for the Fire Service Association team.
Sergeant Masters has also held the position of Acting Sergeant in the Operations Division. In his new role Sergeant Masters will be supervising an operational duty crew.
Sergeant Masters is a National Fire Protection Association Instructor Level 1. He has successfully completed a High Volume Pump Instructor’s course at the Moreton-in-Marsh Fire Service College in the UK, and an Emergency Fire Appliance Driving Instructor’s course at the Cheshire Fire and Rescue in the UK.
In addition, Sergeant Masters holds a certificate in Supervisory Management and he is an Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate.
