Commuters aboard the ferry Resolute continue to make their journey without the use of the ship’s bathrooms which have been out of order in recent months.
Government said that while the temporarily decommissioned toilets were in good working order, 12 years’ worth of corrosion within the aluminium tanks that supply the flushing water meant the tanks will need to be replaced.
A spokesman for Marine and Ports said yesterday the Resolute would be taken out of the water for the repairs as soon as another ferry returns to service to fill the gap.
“The Venturilla is expected to return to service shortly which will allow for the Resolute to be slipped for regular scheduled maintenance and this problem will also be addressed,” the spokesman added.
