A motorcyclist is in hospital with head injuries after?crashing his bike on South Road some 200 metres west of the public entrance of Elbow Beach around 4.40pm today.

Police said it appeared he was travelling west when he lost control of his cycle and tumbled over an embankment.

Police are appealing for witnesses to call 295-0011.
