Man charged after allegedly attacking Filipino

A Sandys man was today charged with racially harassing and causing grievous bodily harm to a Filipino national.Desai Jones, 41, denied the charges, electing to be tried in Magistrates’ Court.Prosecutor Karen King told the court Mr Jones attacked and injured Jose Prevendido on Elliot Street, Pembroke, on May 13.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released Mr Jones on $2,000 bail, ordering him to report to the Somerset Police Station every Monday.Mr Jones will be tried on August 29.Meanwhile, another Sandys man was accused of causing grievous bodily harm to Mr Miguel Swan.David Brunson, 25, of Woodlawn Road, denied the charges.Mr Brunson was released by Mr Warner on $5,000 bail with one surety, and will be tried on August 28.
