Man sexually assaulted four-year-old girl, court told

A 47-year-old man has denied a raft of claims that he sexually assaulted a four-year-old girl.

The man had been dating the girl’s mother, prosecutor Mr Loxly Ricketts told Magistrates’ Court.

The girl first told her mother of the allegations one day while watching TV, saying that the man picked her up and threw her against the wall, then punched her in the face and kicked her between the legs.

The man denied all charges, including five counts of sexual assault against a minor, three counts of assault and one count of showing offensive material to a child.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between March 1, 2012, and December 31, 2013.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner rejected bail applications and remanded the man into custody where he will remain until his trial on September 2.
