Man denies forging betting slip

A Pembroke man this morning denied forging a betting slip in an attempt to get $25,000 from a local betting shop.
Dashae Simons, 25, pleaded not guilty in Magistrates’ Court to charges of creating a false instrument, specifically a betting slip, using a false instrument and attempting to obtain $25,000 from Seahorses Betting Shop by falsely representing that a betting slip was legitimate.
All of the offences were said to have taken place on April 23.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released Mr Simons on $5,000 with a like surety, setting a trial date in October.
