Seventeen young people earn ABIC awards

Premier Michael Dunkley has praised the accomplishments of more than two dozen private and public sector scholarship recipients at two awards ceremonies.

The National Security Minister took part in the 2014 Association of Bermuda International Companies (ABIC) Education Awards ceremony in which 17 students were granted scholarships to pursue studies in international business. And he hosted the 2014 Bermuda Government’s Bursary and Professional and Technical Trainee Scheme Awards at the Cabinet Office, when nine Bermudians won scholarships from a $150,000 fund.

The awardees were Zane Robinson, Miguel Vasconcelos, Shari Scott, Kascia White, Daniele Bortoli, Tarita Cartwright, Bryan DeCouto, Jewel Robinson and Trevor Simmons.

They are studying subjects including aviation, biology, building systems engineering, occupational therapy, electrical engineering, management accountantancy, process controller and airworthiness safety. Mr Dunkley encouraged the scholars to “continue to strive for excellence, broaden their knowledge, and equip themselves with the necessary skills so that they can make a positive and significant contribution to Bermuda’s workforce”.
