An American Airlines flight bound for Antigua was diverted to Bermuda yesterday morning as a result of an ill passenger.

According to police, emergency services rushed to LF Wade International Airport just before 10.30am after being notified the flight had been diverted for medical reasons.

The aircraft, which had set out from New York, landed safely and a 71-year-old male was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

The aircraft left the Island shortly after 1pm without the passenger, who yesterday remained at the hospital receiving treatment.
