TV game show will raise funds for charity

Family affair: Siblings Nadanja Bailey and Nishanthi Bailey

A Bermuda version of the popular television game show Family Feud will raise money for local charities.

And producers of Family Fuze Bermuda are inviting members of the public to be part of the studio audience when the first episode is filmed this weekend.

The long-running US version of the programme pits two teams of families against each other to guess what the most popular responses were to to questions polled to the general public.

The pilot episodes of Bermuda’s version, which was put together by siblings Nadanja and Nishanthi Bailey of N’tertainment, will feature teams of staff different companies, including JetBlue, Endurance, CellOne and Digicel. Family teams are expected to feature in later episodes. Cash prizes will be donated to the chosen charities of winning teams.

Nadanja Bailey said: “If you’re the type of person who loves competition, loves game shows and loves to laugh — this is the event for you.

“We want all of Bermuda to come out and have a good time while supporting many of the registered charities across the island. I’ll be hosting so you know you’re in for a good time.

“Bermuda has more than 400 registered charities. We simply want to see as many of them benefit from the public’s generosity as we can. They are all working to make a better place for us to live and this is the least we can do.”

Nishanthi Bailey added: “We’ve designed the donation structure so each charity randomly drawn by a team will receive a donation. It’s the team’s mandate to win as many points as possible in order to win the top cash prize for the charity they’re playing for.

“Even if you’re on the losing team, a minimum donation will be made so everyone really comes out a winner.”

The pilot show will be taped this Sunday, August 17 at 5pm at the Earl Cameron Theatre, City Hall. Members of the public interested in being a part of the live studio audience can purchase $25 tickets from Stefanel on Reid Street in Hamilton, online at www.bdatix.bm or at the door before taping begins.

Episodes will be broadcast on Channel 82 each week starting next month.
