Hit show to film in Bermuda
Smash-hit British TV talent show The X-Factor will be filming in Bermuda this month.
The programme — an American Idol-style singing competition created by Simon Cowell — attracts millions of viewers in the UK.
And judge Louis Walsh, a renowned entertainment manager, is bringing contestants to the Island.
“We don’t confirm anything officially as the show has yet to be broadcast in the UK but yes the crew will be filming in Bermuda from Wednesday 20th August until Saturday 23rd August,” said a show insider.
“Yes, production have the correct documentation.
“The show hasn’t visited Bermuda before so naturally Louis and the team are very excited to go there for the Judges’ Houses episodes.”
There are five stages to the competition — producers’ auditions, judges’ auditions, a boot camp, the judges’ houses, and the live finals.
After whittling down the hopefuls in boot camp, they are divided into categories — girls, boys, over-25s and groups — and each division is paired with a judge who acts a mentor.
The judge takes their assigned category to their ‘house’ overseas to determine who makes the final live shows.
It is believed Irishman Walsh — who managed Westlife and Girls Aloud — is bringing the groups to a rented house in Bermuda.
It’s believed Walsh will be joined by former X-Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos, a singer who was on trial accused of dealing drugs last month. The case collapsed and she said she had been framed by a tabloid newspaper reporter.
The other X-Factor judges for this year’s show are Cowell, former Spice Girl Mel B, and former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.
No one at Bermuda’s Department of Immigration or the Tourism Authority could be contacted for comment last night.
