Tokio take title in Give Back Games
A beach-style Olympics on Horseshoe Bay raised more than $48,00 for charity this week.
The Centre on Philanthropy hosted its sixth annual Give Back Games on Tuesday, when nine corporate teams representing nine local charities competed for prize money for their chosen charity.
Tokio Millennium Re was the winner, picking up $10,000 for WindReach. The company’s team gained the best scores in eight athletic games, including the Flipper and Shark Relays, Blindfolded Water Relay and a sandcastle competition.
Tokio Millenium Re also won the Give Back Games Facebook Challenge, winning an extra five points and an additional $500 for their charity.
ACE Tempest Re, competing for SCARS, and Hamilton Re, competing for Bermuda’s Brazilian Football, came joint second, winning $6,250 each for their charities. All other participating companies won $4,250 for their charities.
Tione Darrell, engagement and development Officer for the Centre on Philanthropy, said: “We are delighted to have hosted our sixth annual fundraising event, especially when our charities are experiencing financial constraints and increased demand for services.
“The teams had a great time competing and there was a lot of playful banter, while the non-profit organisations and our volunteers did a fabulous job of facilitating the games. The day was a big hit with everyone involved.”
