A mechanical digger was scooped from the water in Castle Harbour yesterday and put onto dry land.
A crane and barge, operated by Correia Construction, arrived at the Airport Waste Management Facility at around 2pm.
And workers attached two slings to the stricken digger before it was lifted to safety.
The excavator had slipped into the sea on Monday while extending the land reclamation area in the southeast corner of the Airport dump.
