Two men deny prowling

Two men have denied prowling at a house in Spanish Point, with one claiming he was on the property to look at boats moored on the water at its rear.

Koeshon Smith, 23, of Devonshire, and Dominique Williams, 20, from Pembroke, appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Both pleaded not guilty to prowling at a dwelling house on Plaice’s Point Road, Pembroke, on October 7.

Prosecutor Susan Mulligan told the court a schoolgirl had been home alone when she became aware of someone trying to remove an air-conditioning unit and saw a man through the window.

The girl then hid under the bed and contacted police, who apprehended Mr Smith and Mr Williams in the area.

Mr Smith told the court he had wanted to look at boats and had wanted to ask permission.

“I don’t have nothing to hide,” he said.

Mr Williams told the court he was not involved.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded the pair into custody and set a trial date of October 17 so the matter could be dealt with as a priority.
