Closures as Island battens down

The Clocktower Mall, Dockyard

Dockyard’s Clocktower Mall is closing up at the end of business tomorrow and will stay shut on Thursday and Friday ahead of Hurricane Gonzalo.

The West End Development Corporation will make a decision on Saturday about reopening the centre.

Meanwhile, the Bermuda National Gallery, along with its branch BNG East, will close on Thursday ahead of the storm.

Monday has been put aside as a potential reopening date but staff will assess conditions in the aftermath of the hurricane first.

A writing workshop with acclaimed sci-fi author Tobias Buckell has also been cancelled.

The event, Writing with Wonder, was scheduled for tomorrow at Cathedral Hall in Hamilton.

Community Education and Development Programme courses scheduled for this evening at all facilities, including satellite locations, have also been called off.

The Bermuda Post Office in Hamilton (General Post Office) and the Bermuda Mail Processing Centre at the airport will be open tomorrow but Paget Post Office will remain closed.

The main post office in Hamilton was closed today due to storm-related damage, according to a spokesman, and the mail processing centre at LF Wade International Airport was also shut.

The Senior Islanders’ Luncheon Club Admiralty House planned for Thursday has also been cancelled due to threatening storm conditions.
