Household waste will be collected in the West End on Thursday but will not be picked up in the East End on Friday.

Recycling collection will not occur this week on Thursday or Friday but will be collected next Thursday and Friday, October 23 and 24, the Ministry of Public Works said today. Garbage which has not been collected by the end of Thursday should either be stored in a secure area until the next official collection day or be taken to the Tynes Bay Public Drop-Off, which will operate with extended hours — from 7am to 7pm on Thursday. On Friday both the Public Drop-off and weighbridge will be closed.

They will reopen on Saturday, weather and road conditions permitting, from 7am until 7pm.
