Cruise ship cancels its trip to Bermuda on Sunday
One cruise ship has been forced to cancel its trip to Bermuda this weekend as Hurricane Gonzalo descends on the Island.
Norwegian Cruise Lines has altered its itinerary for Norwegian Dawn, which was scheduled to call at King’s Wharf, Bermuda, on Sunday.
The ship will depart from Boston today as scheduled but instead visit Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay, The Bahamas.
Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Oceania also have ships calling at Bermuda within the next week.
Oceania’s liner, Insignia, has already been forced to cancel her trip to Bermuda as well. She was due to come into Hamilton on Sunday.
Although Gonzalo weakened from a major hurricane to a Category 3, the National Hurricane Centre said the storm would hit Bermuda as a “dangerous hurricane,” producing damaging winds and a life-threatening storm surge.
Before the storm reached hurricane status, it forced five cruise lines to divert their ships.
