Thank you to our brave emergency services
Residents across the Island are united in praise for the brave people of the emergency services helping to protect the Island against the wrath of Hurricane Gonzalo.
All of us here at the Royal Gazette wish to salute the hundreds of men and women of the Bermuda Police Service, the Regiment, the Fire and Rescue Service and other personnel who will be on duty before, during and after the storm.
They include one of our own senior reporters, Raymond Hainey, who left our office at 2pm yesterday and headed straight for Warwick Camp.
Gonzalo is predicted to be the worst storm Bermuda has endured since 2003’s Hurricane Fabian.
The community is encouraged to stay indoors today and after the winds have calmed down to allow the emergency services to carry out damage assessments and to reach those in urgent need of help.
Royal Gazette staff will be in our office throughout the day, constantly updating our website, Twitter feed and Facebook page with breaking news about Hurricane Gonzalo.
We hope you have completed all of your storm preparation and encourage all of our readers to be careful and to stay safe.
If you have any stories or pictures to send our way, contact Jonathan Bell on 278-0153, Leanne McGrath on 278-0157 or Owain Johnston-Barnes on 278-0158, or email us at news@royalgazette.com. Pictures can be sent to photos@royalgazette.com.
Good luck and Godspeed, Bermuda.
