‘Explorer’ diverts north after Gonzalo

Frequent caller Explorer of the Seas had to divert far to the north as a result of the ongoing cleanup in the aftermath of Hurricane Gonzalo.
Instead of calling on Bermuda, the Explorer made its way to Halifax, capital of the Canadian maritime province of Nova Scotia, a decidedly colder destination — the temperature there this morning was 47F.
The Royal Caribbean vessel was asked to give Bermuda a wide berth due to ongoing recovery efforts. It had been due to moor yesterday at King’s Wharf in Dockyard and head on today.
