Masterworks to open on Monday
Masterworks Museum of Bermuda will be open for business starting Monday, although the surrounding Botanical Gardens have been closed off for health and safety reasons after extensive storm damage.
Curator Elise Outerbridge cautioned that guests at the gallery functions will need to be mindful of the debris hazards in the surrounding park, and stay close to the gallery and safe areas.
Other than a broken shutter, Masterworks was unscathed by last weekend’s Hurricane Gonzalo — but the Botanical Gardens have been closed for three months.
An exhibit by photographer Teresa Kirby Smith, which had been scheduled to go ahead tomorrow, has been postponed until November 7.
“We won’t be able to host big functions because the main parking lot isn’t safe,” Ms Outerbridge said. “We’re just asking patrons, when we open on Monday, to exercise caution and stick to the footpaths.”
Parking will be available behind the park’s aviaries and near the visitor’s centre, she said. Parks staff have cleared the Berry Hill entrance to the facility.
